What results will I get from my horse DNA test?
The profile report includes the industry-standard STR-marker panel plus additional markers for an optimized panel of 23 DNA markers. Profiles are reported in the standard letter code. Each DNA marker has two (2) allele sizes: one is inherited from the dam and one from the sire.
How do I get my DIY kit instructions?
Once you purchase a kit, detailed sample collection instructions will be emailed to you. If you do not receive the emailed instructions, you can download them here.
How should I collect horse DNA?
Collect a DNA sample by plucking 12–25 hairs. Use hair from the mane for adult animals and hair from the tail for foals. Refer to the DIY collection instructions emailed to you for additional information.
Does this test provide any information about inherited traits or diseases?
No, this DNA test provides only a basic DNA profile. Additional DNA testing is needed to determine your horse’s inherited traits or disease risk.
